Ever search for that perfect Vintage Shutter
and when you find one it's $$$$....
or it's too big..
Well follow along and I will share with you
the process I used to make
my own.
Here's a glimpse of the before........
Pretty basic...
I had 2 pieces of pine glued and screwed together about
a year ago to make a sign....
Well that never happened so..... it's the
perfect size for my table, so let's make a
Vintage Looking Shutter....
I had Mr. WWH add some MDF trim and
the shutter came to life....
Then the layering began...
First coat of paint went on
in a brown patina.....
then the last in a off white..cream....
Let dry and harden for a couple of days.
Now with a little elbow grease
start sanding away.....and away... and away....
More sanding
Finished
I used only a medium grit sandpaper and sanded by hand
I wanted to achieve a worn, natural over time
weathered look....
I made mine a table runner...
or add these hooks
and make it a coat rack....
Endless possibilities!
