I've made a tablecloths for my dining room table, breakfast table, and several patio tables plus tablerunners. I also made some chair back covers -- like slips for my chairs! And would you believe.... I also made pumpkins! See, great minds! My pumpkins will be showing up next week when I post about my dining room. I always get my drop cloths at Harbor Freight -- they are quite a bit cheaper than Lowes or Home Depot and my hubby always has a coupon. You may not have that store in Canada. I have one as a slip cover on...I love drop cloths!! I have one as a slip cover on an older couch. It's a quality sofa but we are not ready to re-upolster. So we use a drop cloth and it looks great! Of course my boyfriend still refers to it as tarp over the couch....your runner is so pretty. I'm not much of a seamstress but I think I may be able to do something similar to this.
