A Log Cabin Quilt

 A finish... Log Cabin Quilt

I had only made one log cabin quilt in the time that I have been quilting and that has to be
more than 20 years ago.

I had this fabric (Kansas Troubles) left over from another quilt and wasn't
sure as to the pattern.
Then it hit me. I had the right amount of darks and lights.

So this quilt was born.
It measures 50" by 62". A nice size for a lap quilt.

It all started last fall. I was offered a Schwinn bike.

Yes it's has been awhile since I rode a bike
but you know the old saying you never forget.  So I did a trade off.
The bike for a quilt.
I am really pleased how this lap quilt turned out and I know the recipient will be pleased.
So this Easter weekend I pick up my Schwinn bike
and my sister-in-law gets this gorgeous quilt.
I can't wait to go riding with Mr. Dh.

                                                   Happy Easter!

  1. Hi Linda, I love your quilt-have one similar as well. The bike is cute; we ride but have mountain bikes-my daughter and sil have cruisers. They are cute but remind me of the bikes I grew up riding; not sure which one of you got the better deal but as long as you are happy that's all that matters.
    Happy Easter

That is some awesome trade you made. The bike will be so much fun to ride.

  4. That sounds like a good trade. Not sure who is getting the better deal though. You worked hard on that quilt! I'm sure the recipient will enjoy using it and you will enjoy riding the bike. I'd like to get a bike someday. We have a trail not far from our house that is amazing (built by the county) and you can jog or bicycle on it. That would be fun!

  5. Oh I love your quilt. I made a king size log cabin about 40 yrs. ago. It was a ton of work. I love your colors, it is absolutely stunning. Hugs, Marty

  6. Your quilt is beautiful! I don't quilt as much as I would like to, but log cabin is one of my favourite patterns. Did you free motion the quilting, or send it away? It looks lovely.

  7. Such a nice quilt! I really admire quilters. It takes so much patience and precision to be a good quilter. (I stick with nothing more complicated than simple curtains!) And the bike is great. I've been thinking I should find a simple, no-speed bike. I've never liked or understood all the gears and speeds. Maybe if I had an old-fashioned bike, I'd actually ride it. One of our neighbors has a gorgeous pink one that is such fun.
