Crocheting........Reveal!!

                             Welcome Spring!

 Remember these............

Well I had just enough squares to make this...........................

A beautiful pillow cover...............................

Five rounds.......double crochet............makes these cute squares...........

Now the big question...................

How do I attach these squares.......................

I used 3 different methods.....................

On the front of the pillow cover I used a double crochet method........adding a chain of

3 then I double crocheted in to each 3 double crochets............

If I'm not describing this correctly see the close up of the stitches............

Now the back squares I wanted to be different so I edged each square in a single crochet..

then I single crocheted them together, one by one as seen here..................

Now I wanted to leave an opening for the pillow form so I single crocheted the opening

closed working in from each side leaving an opening......................

Once I finished the front and back I laid right sides together grabbed my darning needle and

my white yarn and sewed then together. This gives it a clean finish without the lumps or ridges.

Turned it right side out then..........

I used white  ribbon to close the opening........................

I love how I can use this pillow displaying both sides.......................

When creating I choose different options to attach granny squares together...

Do you!!!!!!

Well here is my pillow already welcoming Spring!!

  1. My mom did a lot of crocheting back in the day and you are right that it has become popular again. My daughter has a friend who crochets the loveliest hats and sells them for extra cash. It is fun to see these types of crafts come around again.

  2. I love it! That turned out so cute. I didn't even think of it being used as a pillow cover. I like how you used ribbon to tie it closed.

  3. Linda,
    Lovely pillow!
I was thinking about you last night while looking at Pinterest. I seen a crocheted small rug out of squares, and I thought ummmm...wonder if Linda is making a rug out of those cute little squares. Love the pillow, maybe one day I might learn to crochet.

  4. Linda - your pillow is beautiful and so fresh looking. I'm jealous. With the arthritis in my hands, I can't crochet anymore and I used to love it. Thanks for sharing so I can live vicariously. J

Lovely! The granny squares turned out so pretty as a pillow.
The blue, white & yellow is very clean & fresh... Perfect for Spring decor!
Now you will have to make these pillows to match all of those afghans you were busy making for your family last year ;0)
    All the Best,
    Christine
