Tunisian Crochet ....

                                              Welcome!!

TUNISIAN CROCHET.............

An art by no other name.............

I spent today with a fantastic patient friend.........

Today Janet was my teacher.......

Here are the supplies I needed:

1 Large crochet hook.....bet you have never seen one this size before

30" with a hook at each end.........

Janets husband was so kind to make this for me.

Yarn...mine was Red Heart for the soft rose colour
and my contrast was a soft pink......mega lb  Lion brand....

Here's another view of the hook.

So let's get started...

First I made a chain of 165 stitches......with a K hook

Then I had to pick up these stitches onto the hook.......Janet is showing me how this is done..

then counted them back.......then I take them off  the hook off  and then when I reach
the end I turn my hook and put them back on.......... I'm losing you RIGHT!!

This is me in the pink pants.... My work in progress......

Well this is all new to me and I have the best teacher........Her work is beautiful!!

You can see from this picture that Janet is working on a pink and white blanket.

After being there for 3 hours I just got the hang of it.....off the hook...on the hook ...

Now tell me how many of you have had the opportunity to make such a beautiful blanket

using TUNISIAN CROCHET method???

                                                      Thanks for visiting!!

  4. That is one long crochet hook! I don't know how to crochet or knit, but you are very lucky to be learning this. Janet's blanket looks lovely!

  6. Never even heard of it!! Looks like a combination of crochet and knitting. You've peaked my interest, my friend. I wonder where we can get a hook like that.

  7. My husband made my hook. He used a 1/4" piece of doweling and carved out the ends to resemble a size K or #7 crochet hook. I used a nail file and smoothed out any little catches.

  8. Tunisian crochet is so much fun. You can find the special hooks at yarn and craft stores although I don't know if they come in 30" lengths. How fortunate you are to have one specially made. Can you share your pattern with your readers? It is beautiful.
