It's Time To plant PAPERWHITES

Now's the time to plant
your Paperwhites.

It's time to force them so they will be blooming for
Christmas!
They are so easy to grow!

Follow these easy steps and in 6 weeks you will have
beautiful Paperwhites.

Here is what you will need:
Bulbs
pebbles or stones
earth
containers of your choice

I buy mine as soon as the bulbs go on sale in the fall.

place pebbles in the bottom of the container
then add the soil
next comes the Paperwhite bulbs
press the bulbs root side down
just into the earth.

Place them close together as to support them as they grow.

Keep the soil moist.
Water liberally.

I have used a variety of containers this year.

Keep them in a well lit room
and watch them grow.

Rotate the container so that they will grow straight.
I covered mine with moss to keep them moist.
They will grow right up through the moss.

Paperwhites can also be grown in glass containers.
Here I used a candle holder and
stones .
I attached a red ribbon and a tag on how to keep them growing
A cute wreath at the top with some Christmas greenery and the Paperwhites will grow through the wreath.

Enjoy your Paperwhites in 6 weeks!

Tie them with raffia and branches to keep them straight!

Your home will smell heavenly!

Thanks for visiting!
Linda

  4. You're the second person to give a tutorial on how to do this and I'm smitten! I'm going to do this. I love paperwhites and buying the bulbs is a lot cheaper than buying the plant after it's bloomed! Plus I can choose my own container. So I'm assuming that the container doesn't have to have a hole in the bottom to drain the water. I would worry about overwatering then. I will have to buy some bulbs soon so I can get this started. I have everything else. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Thanks for the reminder to buy my paperwhites and amaryllis bulbs this week. I always plant them before Christmas to enjoy over the holidays and into January. I love your containers you used. Have a great rest of the week!

  6. Each year I have paperwhites but Last year I couldn't find them anywhere...not at the nurseries, hardware store or any of the big box stores. Thanks for the reminder.

  9. We're on the same timetable again, my friend. Monday, I did my amaryllis and yesterday I did my hyancinths. I like to wait until after Christmas for the narcissus so that they bloom for Valentine's Day - right when the winter doldrums begin to hit.

  10. I remember speaking to you about paper whites last year. I said I would plant them this year well, with selling the house and being at our friends house while the house gets done I will be doing this next year. I will be saving this for reference. Thanks
