Daylily in the Garden

One of the great things about gardening is
that when the huge wave of summer does finally break,
and its leaping curve of green flings into every garden
a marvellous iridiscent  spray of  petals, in colours our language hasn't
caught up with yet, its joyful and indiscriminate tide lifts everyone off their
feet - both proper gardeners and people like me........
                                                                                  Paul Jennings

I miss my beautiful Hemerocallis ..Daylilly plants.

I found them so easy to grow. Once the plant started to bloom the colours were spectacular.

Here above are just a few....by name...  Mary Todd, Frans Hals, Red Magic, Farytale Pink.

In 2005 I planted 20 Hemerocallis in the front garden.

Just remembering all the gorgeous flowers
                                               that once were.

It's raining here today and I thought this just might bring a ray of sunshine into your homes!

As always thanks for all your lovely comments.

    1. Funny the deer here seem to leave them alone. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I'm a huge day lily fan too! I've been known to spend quite a bit for a single cutting. But I was lucky enough to have a friend who had an amazing collection of hybrids which she shared with me. I moved some of them from the old garden when we came to TBurg and they are now doing nicely after 4 summers. They are all just peeking through the ground now, giving me hopes of a colourful summer ahead.

  7. I love day lilies too. They are hearty plants. That's one plant that I don't have to worry about here. We've had good luck with them. Yours are so pretty out in front of your house.
