Hello Friends!
Welcome Back!
We are having extreme cold and wintery weather here in
Toronto so what better way to pass the time .......
Finding Inspiration in Blog world..
Here at The Essence of Home Kelly was featuring her lovely
winter wreath that she had purchased from Ikea in 2011.
It now being 2014 I knew I would have a better chance at making this then trying to find it at our Ikea store.
So I set out and gathered up my supplies that I had on hand.
Black Yarn
Gray Yarn
$store grapevine wreath
hearts
craft paint
ribbon
glue gun
Started wrapping first with the black yarn..
Then covering the black with the gray...
As you can see in Kelly's wreath the hearts are soft and wooly.
Well when you don't have soft hearts the next best heart that I
had on hand were these wooden hearts on string that I
made many years ago.
So out came the craft paint and I painted them to look
similar to the soft and wooly ones.
To assemble them onto the wreath I cut off the string and wrapped yarn around the bottom of the wreath and let it hang at different lengths...now this is where the glue gun comes in...
I proceeded to glue the yarn to the tops of the hearts.
You can see this here up closer.
Lastly came the ribbon...
Made a large bow then glued ribbon on for the hanger.
Mine and Kelly's
Don't you just love it when you find inspiration

Hi Linda, your winter wreath is as lovely as Kelly's! Stay warm my friend, Gail
ReplyDeleteI love this idea Linda. I think your's turned out really nice. Great inspiration. I still have my fir wreath on the door and I think it's time to change it out. Wish I had some yarn! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I just love yours! I am so impressed that you were able to make yours look almost the same. You are so clever. You know, I think I had the date wrong, I purchased mine in 2012. Oops! Either way though, they don't sell it anymore since it was a seasonal item. That was such a good idea to use the wooden hearts on yours. Mine are like little pillows. They're stuffed. So glad that my wreath inspired you to make your own. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty . Nice work . Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteLinda I love your version! You did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteLove it! In fact, I think you've inspired me to do one myself. I have a straw wreath downstairs that's been collecting dust for a while and tons of wool (from all those unfinished projects).
ReplyDeleteAnd I see by your lovely new header, you are dreaming of spring too!
Love your wreath and super tutorial. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI saw Kelly's wreath and loved it and really like yours. I never think about setting our wreaths, but I do have a window where one might look pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration.
This wreath is so cute. I can't wait for the house to get finished so I can be creative again. The weather is not helping us right now!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
It looks great and probably a lot less money than you would have spent at Ikea!
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't have to drive anywhere today, it was nasty out there...seems to be the norm this winter.
Debbie :)
You never cease to amaze me Linda, great job!!
