Birch Pumpkin DIY

Welcome friends -  I have a Pumpkin tutorial that I wanted to share.
I have been so fascinated with these birch pumpkins that I decided to make one of my own.

So won't you come along ...maybe it's something you would like to try.

First up supplies...

1 large styro foam ball
lightweight cardboard
pencil
hot glue gun
scissors
craft paint (white,black)
stem
raffia

So let's get started...

I drew and cut out many, many tear drop shapes,
Then started to glue them onto the ball starting from the bottom up.
first row all at the same level, second staggered over the first and so on
till I reached the top. Making sure you leave a space at the top for the stem.
Then I added more and more till I liked the look I was going for.

Left it overnight to dry, then started to paint.
I filled my flat brush with the white paint  and lightly dragged it down the shapes ...
with having the light background
of the cardboard and the white it starts looking like birch bark.
Next I took a broken charge card and dipped it into the black paint.
then I dragged it down and across the petals.....

Let this dry completely ....

Time to make a hole in the top of the ball for your stem.
Using a awl or a knife dig out the foam.
Add a touch of glue to the stem and set into place.

Then wrap with raffia..........
