Dolls! Dolls! Dolls!!

                                 JACK OF ALL TRADES

                                  MASTER OF NONE

This is how I feel these days........

So much to try .............

Now you must all know by now that I fly from the seat of my
pants......

So.......

If I see something interesting than I must try my hand at
it......

Ok Ok you are wondering where this is going..........

The postman (actually lady) came the other day with a
package.......

One that I was waiting on....................

I knew what was inside...kinda...... I knew they  were dolls....

dolls????? Yes dolls.......you see I had a vision.........

This lovely lady at named Maddy had all these doll parts...

Do you know now where I am going with this....

So for the cost of the postage I had these delivered...

Are they not the cutest.......Oh my creativity is just

begging to come out...... Oh these dolls are going to

become one of a kind...........

Ok now where do I start????

Did some googling and found I needed some supplies...

So off I went to Michaels with my list of supplies.

I'm sure this has happened to you .....

Piece of paper in hand and off to the Artist supply area.

No not one salesperson around.....I have no idea what

I am looking for .......just know that I need a certain pencil and

eraser.........Talked to this lovely customer like myself and asked
her if she knew what I was looking for....No sorry she said I
paint on canvas not cotton.....

Now I have a game plan.....find a salesperson....
I do but she sends me to crayons.....NO that is not what I need..
These are specific pencils to colour on fabric....

OH!! she takes me back to the beginning Artist Supply aisle.

Here I think this is what you are looking for.
OMG!! $$$$$$ that's all I see.  Are there no packages for
beginners....
Now did I happen to mention another lovely lady was there
looking at these pencils and she spoke up and said..
GO TO STAPLES!!!........SHE GOOGLES ON HER PHONE
AND SHOWS ME A BETTER $$$$$$.

Now doesn't this sound like Gimbles store in Miracle on 34th st.
The Santa tells them to shop at Macy's.

Thanks So much to the lovely lady...........I scurried out the store...jumped in the car and
said start the car.....we are going to Staples!!!

Sure enough there they were PRISMA Colour Pencils.
BONUS!!! The were on sale from $30. to $23.49.

Michaels price was more than  double!!
And my eraser...........$3.49

Now I know there are more supplies that I need....

But this is a start..........

Creating beautiful faces.................

Then the hair..........where do I buy hair?????

Clothes yes clothes...........design them and make them....

I think I have my work cut out for me...

What are you working on??????

                                  Thanks for Visiting

                                        Linda

  3. This looks like a fun and interesting project Linda. It pays to shop around too. M's is very expensive unless you have a coupon or hit a 40% off day. I can't wait to see your new creations.

  6. So much fun!!! Love discovering a new craft! My niece makes dolls and has bought a lot of her supplies on Etsy - I'm thinking of the hair. You should also be able to get something at Fabricland, I think. Can't wait to see how they turn out. They're the perfect project for a long winter's day like today.

  8. Very nice project!! I was a avid doll collector for many years. I love dolls. But, due to this hobby being one using disposable income, I have stopped! Seeing this reminded me of the days I too would anticipate the arrival of "packages" from doll purchases. I still follow a few collectors, one here http://blackdollcollecting.blogspot.com/2013/02/black-is-beautiful-why-black-dolls.html

This lady is PHENOMINAL when it comes to black dolls.

Looking forward to seeing your work.

  9. Linda I'm so impressed with your willingness to try anything! I love your attitude. I'm so glad you found such a deal on the materials, it makes it so much better. I wish you would've taken a close up of the doll face. I'll be watching for update :)

  10. Wow Linda - looks like a great project. Did you get the dolls from MaddyRose? My girlfriends and I were just venting our frustrations over Michael's not existent staff and then if you can scare one up - they can't answer your question. We were always saying that we asked other customers for advice and directions. That's pretty poor customer service when you consider their prices. I only buy from there with a coupon. Luckily there is one every week. I need more wool this week. j

  12. This looks like a project that will keep you very busy and tap into that creativity of yours. If you had a Hobby Lobby near you, I would suggest going there. They are a great source for craft supplies at low prices. But I know you live in Canada and have different stores there sometimes. I can't wait to see what you do with them!

  13. These are great, Linda! What fun you are going to have fixing them up. I hope you will show them off as you do them. I used to always see doll hair at Michael's but you might do better {price wise} online.
