Crocheted Sweater
Have you ever looked and
looked for that special
sweater ........one that is only
100% COTTON.....
Well I have .....racks upon racks ....
in and out of stores.......
There are NO ...white...100% cotton
sweaters out there......
So what's a girl to do .........make her own......
Now I know the yarn shops will
frown at this.....but I was not
about to pay $100. in yarn for
a white cotton sweater....
I did the next best thing......
WARNING!!!
You might be shocked at what you are
about to see.....
Yes , I used dishcloth/washcloth 100% cotton.
4 ply worsted......
Of course I used white and I was able to purchase this 140z ,
400 g for only $10.00........
I used a simple stitch of half double crochet and starting with the
bottom .....
This pattern was so easy that a beginner could make this.
I found this pattern on
A Crafty House.
And Yes it only cost me $10.00
to make this sweater!!
This will be a fun coverup over a tank top,
or over a long sleeve tee, or over a bikini.....
Possibilities are endless...
So when your out there
looking and looking
try your hand at crochet......
As always thanks for stopping by!
Love hearing from you!
Linda

Do you really thing a beginner could make this? I would love to try. Like you, I've searched for the right cotton sweater and refuse to pay the big price asked by the better lines - I can find what I want but will not pay! I've crocheted in the past - will print out the pattern and give it a try. Are you available to consult? :)
ReplyDeleteThis sweater turned out really beautiful! I’d love for you to come link up at this week’s Off the Hook!

ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you foundme.
DeleteThat is awesome and so pretty! What a great idea. I'm not a knitter or crocheter but I do love a nice cotton sweater in the summer. And you're right, there aren't any out there especially for $10.00! It's beautiful Linda. And so practical.
ReplyDeletenice! Great looks sweater and I love the cost savings :) If you get bored with white, you can always tie dye it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you stopped by.
DeleteThis will be a perfect summer top! I love that you used the washcloth yarn. After all, cotton is cotton! Did it work to the same tension or did you have to adjust the pattern?
ReplyDeleteThat looks so pretty! How nice that if you can't find what you want at a store, you can just make it yourself.
ReplyDeleteWow, I am impressed. Love the style too. It looks so beautiful. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. My name is bobbybegood1 and I found your spectacular blog via another fabulous blog and another Linda - "woke up, got out of bed." I am a self-taught crocheter. I so hope we can become blogbuddies. I simply love your blog. What really peaked my interest is your love of crochet. That white sweater is to die for - stunning! Thanx for the tips. I must make one for myself. Cheers!!
