Or Matilda Gutges.
Means Mophead.
White hydrangea "Annabelle" have large Mopheads.
What colour do they change to?
Do they keep their white colour? No!!
As they mature in the season
they turn a beautiful lemony green.
Great, at this time cut them and bring them in so that they will dry.
I put them in a large vase or jug with a little water and
as the water evaporates the beautiful mopheads dry.
Now are pink macrophylla or are they blue.
I have pink hydrangeas growing in my garden.
They turn blue when they mature. As white goes to green
pink goes to blue.
Now with Annabelle there is little maintenance. Just watch them grow!!!
With Macrophylla Matilda Gutges they require acidic soil.
Do I use pine needles??? Do I use coffee grinds???
I'm going to try the grinds. Let's see how this works.
So stay tuned folks and watch my pink turn into blue......
I love hydrangeas Linda and yours look beautiful! One of our bushes start off pink and then turn a pretty blue gray color.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness those are gorgeous!~ I adore hydrangeas.
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas are my favorite and yours are just beautiful! I have been cutting mine and have been placing them inside to dry and some has done really well. I don't have as many blooms this year as I have in the past. I think it's because of lack of rain. Enjoy your day, Gail
ReplyDeleteOh my the hydrangeas are all stunning. I am sorry, I tried to hook you up, but it asks for your email address and I can't do that. I don't know why you can't link up, I hope you will try again. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI have pink hydrangeas so I am going to try your tip of using coffee granules to turn them blue. I will let you know how I get on. Best Wishes Daphne
