A chill in the Air

What a great day to be outside gardening.

My purple cone flower, phlox, blue hydrangeas and pinky winkey are in full bloom.

Cleaning up the beds and trimming the bushes. My sedum will soon turn to pink.

Fall is just around the corner.

The sun is shining and a few clouds come and go.

Cut some bulrushes from the ditches and placed them in galvanized  tins.

Placed some rocks in the bottom to keep them secure then added some water.
They sit on each end of my black bench.

Planted 2 perennial Perovskia  or other name Russian Sage.

These will take root in no time and will become a nice bush next spring with
beautiful lavender flowers.  Great time to purchase perennials. They are 75% off in most
nurseries. I paid $4.99 . They were $12.99.

Well before we know it will be time to decorate for fall

Have you already started???

Thanks for stopping by and leaving all your lovely comments.

  1. I can tell you have quite the green thumb! What beautiful blooms. I love phlox and russian sage. You beds look clean and so very tidy! Want to come over and take care of mine? They need help!

  2. The weather here in Maryland has been beautiful as well! Although I've been spending most of my time in the garage painting.

  3. No, I haven't had the chance to start. But when I'm walking again, Katy bar the fall door!

  7. Yes, the chill in the air is so refreshing after this summer! And so much nicer to sleep by. Haven't decorated for fall yet, but have been thinking on what to do. The purple fountain grass and black madras rice planters will be refreshed with mums & ornamental kale, love this look for fall. Time to get out my fall storage container and give a look through!
Love your pictures, love the bulrush planters!

  9. I'm a horrible gardener...I learned a while ago that I just have to let some things be and keep up with what I can. Playing with the Grandbabes takes my extra time and I am OK with that!! Everything looks neat and trim. I have the Sage in my garden and it looks gorgeous every year...love perennials. No fall decorating yet, but that is just around the corner. Come visit when you have the chance. I've just gotten back into blogging after a few months abscence.

  10. Oh I am so jealous. It is still 113 here and no signs of it letting up any time soon. Your gardens and flowers are fabulous. Wish I could grow them, but the desert climate just doesn't work. Thanks tons for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

  11. Oh to feel a chill in the air would be nice! To plant fall flowers would be nice too. Can't just yet or they will burn right up!

  12. We just started to have chilly mornings. It went from 80 degrees to in the low 60's. It's kind of nice to open the windows and let some fresh air in.

Your flowers are beautiful! I love your tall evergreens too.

  13. Here in the south, Fall comes a little later for us. We have been enjoying some cooler temps this week though. That is unusual for us in August! But, noone is complaining! Ha! Your flowers are looking good.

  14. Good Morning Linda, you have been a "busy bee". Here in England I can feel a morning chill in the air as summer is on it's way out. We don't decorate our homes with the changing seasons, so I will be interested to see what you do. The next time for me will be at Christmas, which I get very excited about. Best Wishes Daphne

  15. You have a lovely garden! I actually haven't even thought of fall yet - it is my favorite season, but it was 94 today. I'm sure fall will sneak up on me and catch me far behind in my gardening!

    Kindly,
    Linda

  17. It's been a bit chilly here too. I'm ready for fall along with everyone else! I planted 2 perennials last year in pots. They are huge and green but not one bloom to been seen. I have no idea what they are either. I'm hoping they burst into bloom soon. :o)
