Fall Mantle/Shelf

Happy weekend everyone!!!

As I venture through blogland I see so many beautiful mantles.

Oh I long for my old mantle over the fireplace.

We have a fireplace in our new home but it is a corner unit and hard to decorate.

SOOOOOOO Folks here is my mantle/shelf all decorated for fall.
Let's start with my flower arrangement.

I pulled out my beautiful sunflowers from last year.

If you look closely you will see the cute bee that I glued on.

Not just an ordinary arrangement , no not me I picked up a branch from the yard

and went about adding a few cotton balls . I used small styrofoam balls and some cotton

that was left over from another project. Very simple, just glue the cotton to the ball and then

glue to the branch.

Looks like I have been to the cotton fields and picked it fresh.

Next I added a corn stalk, love the texture of the silk tops.

Hmmm!!!   What else can I find in the yard. This is a flower??? or weed?? But again

I loved the gray/green and the texture of the plumes.

Next I added the Indian corn , a worn out crow.........

a cute little crocheted pumpkin that I whipped up  and lastly (Now no judging)...

I painted or tried painting a sunflower.

Well folks here's my shelf that runs the perimeter of our great room.

I used a wee section of it to decorate for Fall.

Over the couch I display a few of my antiques..

Hope you enjoyed my fall version of a mantle.

As always I love for you to stop by. Leave a comment....

  5. Hi, We also have a corner fireplace and although there is a shelf above it, we have our t.v. unit on it-so really no place to decorate and like you I"d love an area but I try to decorate other places in our home. Have a wonderful day. Thanks too for your sweet comment about our new little grandson.

  8. I think your sunflower looks great! I have an artist friend here in Birmingham, and she paints (practically) nothing but sunflowers, and she sells them as fast as she can paint them! You could sell the heck out of those down here!!!

    Great looking mantel!

  10. Hi Linda, I can see a budding artist. Really, the sunflower looks great. Creating your own cotton is very clever. I love alot of texture. So fun to bring some in from the outdoors. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
