New member of the family

Well it has been a month since Max our handsome boy passed and our Westie Fergus is still
pining. Talked to the vet and it's not uncommon for them to pine up to a year.

He suggested that maybe it's time to introduce a new puppy.

Sooooooo

After some lengthy discussions this is our new member.
Kijiji: Chihuahua/Poodle Mix Puppies; ONE PUP LEFT!

We pick him up at noon today.

Off for a vet visit and a bath.

Wonder how Fergus is going to take to him.

He is a CHIPOO! No names yet....Can you think of a name for out new male friend?

He will be the size of Fergus when fully grown. Weighing in at 20 lbs at maturity.

He looks just like the father and will be hypo-allergenic  like Fergus.

We watched him run after his dad and mom last night. He has lots of energy. The mom is black and tan and the father just like the puppy. They are both CHIPOO"S.  Funny thing we purchased him just down our country road. I will take a picture of the mom and dad today and you will see how this cutie is going to look full grown.

Now you ask ARE YOU CRAZY!! Some of my friends think so.......

When we pick him up Fergus will be at the groomers.

Now we are off to purchase a small crate, dog collar and leash, puppy food, bed ,

oh yes and Vet $$$$.....

So starts a new journey.

                                                    Thanks for Visiting!

                                                          Linda

  3. Hi Linda, First Congrat's to all of you. You said a Chipoo-I'm wondering if he is Bichon/Poodle or another Poodle mix(sorry not familiar with the Chipoo name)but I will say he looks just like my Hunter-who is a Bichon. In fact, that is what I thought he was. Our daughter has a Bichon-Poodle and I can tell you that anything with Bichon in it, is a wonderful dog. The only thing is that Bichons love to get along and won't fight(except when playing). Ours is such a joy!
O.k. so how about Bentley to go with Fergus? Maybe Finnegan, short would be Finn-has a nice ring with Fergus. I know your pups will adjust quickly and become the best of friends.
    Have a wonderful day!

  4. He is really adorable! I don't think you're crazy. If Fergus was used to having a companion, then he is probably lonely and might feel better after he gets to know the new puppy. I would just make sure you continue to give him lots of attention and not divert it all to the new puppy so he doesn't feel more isolated. I, on the other hand, probably couldn't bring in a new dog to the house without some friction from my current dog. He has always been an "only" dog and would feel jealous I'm sure! I look forward to hearing all about their antics together! Things will be "hopping" at your house this summer!

  8. He is so cute, LInda. But I have a question: what combination is a chipoo? Chihuahua and poodle?

We've been toying with the idea of getting a dog now that my cat is gone, but my hubby doesn't want to be tied down to that responsibility. Darn. I would love a little guy like this.

    Have fun!!

  9. OMG he is so adorable!! When we brought our two home we couldn't wait to give them a bath. They were very well cared for but they really needed a bath. Good luck and much happiness.
