Pallet Art ..Christmas in July..

Pallet Art and Christmas in July OH MY!!!

When visiting  Lake Girl Paints and seeing  all the lovely painted images on pallets,
                             A light bulb went off!!!

You know the kind of feeling when that happens.

I have pallets...I have folk art paints and crafter's paint. I can print off a graphic from Graphics Fairy....

***Note Lake Girl Paints are all hand drawn*****

Sooooooo...... Christmas in July

So this is how we started.......

Off to the hubby's stash of wood, broken down skids, and I picked out a few...

Hubby glued and screwed them together to look like this.

Then we gathered all of our supplies and headed outside to the gazebo.

Beautiful summers day..so why not enjoy this time with my grand daughter  painting on pallets.

First I painted the wood with black and brown and a little red mixed together.

Once that dried I added my white paint with this large paint brush and dry brushed on the paint.

*NOTE THE CUTE SNOWMAN PLATE TO GO WITH THE THEME*

I loved the idea of leaving the edges black.
Let them dry and then the fun begins.

We decided to print off a Santa image from Graphics Fairy and then used our transfer paper to trace the image onto our wood.

We started from the middle and started painting the face in then the mustache , beard etc.

                                Left the eyes till last.

TIP : If you work from the center out your arm won't land in the paint.

What fun I had with my  grand daughter. She is a born artist. It didn't take her long to catch on how to
folk art and blend in colours.

Did I mention that she is only TEN YEARS OLD!!

Such fun and memories for a summers day!!!

Did you notice the piece of art on the left ....a topiary  in the making......

                                Thanks for visiting!

Always love hearing from you. Leave a message!!

  7. Those turned out so cute! They would look so cute hung on the wall with ribbon or propped on an easel. Make sure y'all sign them at the corners too! I bet you'll enjoy getting those out this Christmas.

  8. Love it! I havent' even thought about Christmas stuff yet and I'm seeing it everywhere. Guess I better start planning.

Question: how does hubby get your skid wood apart without breaking it all? We've used everything including a reciprocating saw and still seem to have problems.
