Drop Cloth Table Runner

Ever since I made my ruffled chair cushions

here  I wanted to make a ruffled TABLE RUNNER.

Over the summer on a rainy day
                            I did just that.

Now for all my newbie friends a drop cloth is a painters drop cloth that is 100% cotton and is so easy to sew with and
soooooo inexpensive.......

Have I mentioned that I'm in Love with drop cloth.....

Here's a tip. Make sure you wash it in hot water and I always add a bleaching agent. White Brite.

Here in Canada I purchased my drop cloth at Lowes.
I always buy the largest size. It has so many uses.
The White Brite  @ Wal Mart.

I love the way it hangs...

I love the way it looks.....

I love that I was able to use leftovers from my ruffled chair cushions.......

Want to know how I made this cute table runner.

Well drop back later this week and I'm posting a tutorial.

See with the little bit of fabric that I had left over I made these cute little pumpkins.......

Yes I will also post a tutorial on making these as well.

Now run out there and purchase your drop cloth and be ready for sewing day......

             As always thanks for visiting!

                                     Linda

  1. I love your drop cloth ruffled runner! It looks so cute on your table with your chair covers. I've never used brite white before. Does that soften the drop cloth? I adore the pumpkins you made! I'd like to make those.

  3. You did a beautiful job on the table runner Linda. I'm not a sewer but I think I could make curtains with straight lines couldn't I? Hmm. I've been wanting new bathroom curtains for a while and this may be the answer. Thanks for the tip! have a great week.

  4. Linda,
You are a hoot, dear one!!!
I HATE to sew. . .all my blog friends know that. . .
but every ONCE in a while I am encouraged and inspired to use my sewing machine
and make a home decor accessory for my home!!!
Recently, I've been toying with the idea of using painter's drop cloth for a project.
I, too, use Lowe's here on the Prairie!!!
I'll visit again, soon, dear one and see your tutorial!!!
    Thanks for the encouraging words!!!
    Have a marvelous week ahead!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  5. I love drop cloths!! I have one as a slip cover on an older couch. It's a quality sofa but we are not ready to re-upolster. So we use a drop cloth and it looks great! Of course my boyfriend still refers to it as tarp over the couch....your runner is so pretty. I'm not much of a seamstress but I think I may be able to do something similar to this. Great idea!

  8. I am going to have to take the plunge! We don't have a Lowe's here on Vancouver Island, but I'm pretty sure Home Depot and Rona have them. I look forward to your tutorials.

  12. Wow, we are definitely on the same wave-length. I'm head-over-heals in love with drop cloths. I haven't tried White Bright, but I always wash them in hot water. I've made a tablecloths for my dining room table, breakfast table, and several patio tables plus tablerunners. I also made some chair back covers -- like slips for my chairs! And would you believe.... I also made pumpkins! See, great minds! My pumpkins will be showing up next week when I post about my dining room. I always get my drop cloths at Harbor Freight -- they are quite a bit cheaper than Lowes or Home Depot and my hubby always has a coupon. You may not have that store in Canada. Anyway, happy crafting and sewing with Drop Cloths!
