Painting my days away...

Well it sure has been a long time since I posted. So sorry but I have been

in my studio painting up a storm, so when the soul says paint.....I paint!

                                                    Love what you do !

I love to paint......     I never thought of myself as being an artist,

and how it would change my life.

I have been exploring and discovering that I love

to paint with Acrylics. Using brushes, palette knives, and mediums

                                                      Loving  florals......

Being creative and wanting to share with you ,

I've always loved flowers and have taken many pictures of my gardens.

This is where I found  my inspirations.

                                              Luminous Poppy

               Another favourite of mine...

                                                       Succulents

                                           ROSES

A Gorgeous Rose for Sadie

                                        Hello friends!

Many of you think I have gone Awol!

But I'm just in my studio, painting!

Since I've taken up this creative outlet I can't seem to put my brushes down.

My choice of medium right now is Acrylic paints. Liquitex heavy body paints.

I know my love for watercolour has not vanished,      just for awhile .

I decided to persevere and paint a rose........ WOW!  a Rose indeed

This is not just an ordinary rose but Sadie's rose..........

Painting measures 16" x 20 ".

Well I put it out there and asked what colour should I paint the background and the
consensus was..........

                                                   Turquoise

Yes Turquoise has just made this rose pop!

Now on to Sadie, Sadie and Levi are the main characters in
                    our daughters first novel.
                           " Read Between the Lines"

A "Chick Lit " Romance Novel

Yesterday was Jill Breugem's book launch and signing!

The room filled with excitement as Jill signed each and every book
purchased till there were none. Within the first hour all her books were sold!

                    Congratulations!
                       to our beautiful daughter

A Sewing Day!

Hello friends, it's been awhile!

Do you have so many projects that you just don't know which one to work on.

I have been looking at this pillow form for some time, I'd pick it up and wonder

what am I going to use to make a cover.

Then it would go back into the cupboard for another day!

This pillow was once covered in this cute drop cloth fabric.

Well over time it wore out and got tossed and the pillow ended up in the cupboard

waiting for the right cover.

The tutorial can be found here

Out came my sewing machine and some blue and white ticking

and I set to work cutting and sewing and pressing.

Don't you just love my vintage sewing machine.

It just humms away as I sew never losing a stitch.

I purchased this cute Rowenta  iron  in my quilting days.

Sure comes in handy for my small projects!

I wanted a cover that would come off for washing.

You see the buttons on the front are just  sewn on and the pocket is held together

with Velcro tape.. No sew Velcro.

Very easy to remove pillow insert.

Love ticking!

Well I had some ticking fabric left over and Valentines is just around the corner

so I just had to make this cute heart to hang off the bed in the guest room.

What projects are just waiting in your cupboard to
                                                             finish!

Thanks so much for following along!

A few new paintings!

                                                A Snowy Country Road,

                                                    Watercolour

                                           many of my paintings are
                                           inspired by PaintMyPhoto.

It's Christmas time

Everyone is running around shopping, and baking , then wrapping getting ready
for that special day when Santa arrives.
The little ones with lists a mile long and the excitement of the jolly old self
                                             in his red suit.

I'm sitting here remembering how my little ones were always so excited, looking through
the Sears toy catalogue circling everything in sight.  I loved watching their faces light up
every time that catalogue came you knew that Christmas was just around the corner.

Out shopping early in September with other mothers making sure some of their wishes came true.

Now my children are all grown with families of their own going through the same steps as I once did.

                                              Cards written and mailed
                                               Tree up and decorated ,
                                             Presents bought and wrapped
                                                     Baking done.......

Groceries still to get, turkey, homemade stuffing, cranberries to boil down,
creamed cauliflower, turnip, carrots, parsnips, yams, mashed potatoes, and gravy......

                             Desert.......Ice cream,
                                       hot cherry pie,
                                       lemon meringque pie
                                       plum duff
                                       cherry cheese cake

Does this sound like your Christmas!

Christmas music playing in the background, missing the sounds of little feet
                                  reminiscing of things past.

Wouldn't change anything for the world.

Decorating done!

My latest painting!

                                                            Love to all!!
